Welcome Section volunteer opportunities

Volunteer Youth Worker

Brief description:
Working in your local area to deliver a programme of varied activities for young people from P6 - S4, that is fun, safe and in a friendly/informal environment.

Full description:
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have an interest in working with young people to become part of our team. the volunteers would assist the project leader and other volunteers in organising fun activities/building relationships with the young people and encouraging them to take part and have fun by giving 2 hours of your time each week. You can contribute to the local community, helping young people to develop skills and self esteem while at the same time expanding your experiences and your skills. Trying out a new career or to do something different and worthwhile in your spare time.

Skills Required:
No particular experience is required but an interest and commitment to working with young people is required.

Minimum age: 16

Takes place:
2 hours per week. Tuesday and/or Thursday evening. No minimum commitment required.

The organisation is particularly looking for people with availablity during these days and times:

Training and Support
Volunteers will have an induction meeting with the local leader, where training requirements can be set (if funding is available) The volunteer will also have the opportunity to shadow a youth worker.

Expenses
No expenses are paid. Volunteers do get taken out on 2 outings per year (expenses paid)
